Halloween

I am getting excited for Halloween now:) All the posts on the Spooktacular September have been great. Be sure to click on the button on the right hand side of my blog and check them out! You can find the creepy cloth and the spider at the dollar store! They have great Halloween stuff!

I did another search for printable Halloween labels. I don't remember where the petrified butterflies came from but the black and white labels are printables from Martha Stewart. Her Halloween ideas are amazing as always this year! Click to go over and see Marthas Halloween!

Seving Tray Centerpiece (Everyone should have one if you use your table often!) This is the table where we eat at all the time! I love having things on the table but hate to move them multiple times a day and then it takes up the counter or something else. I keep my decor for the table on a servings tray that I painted white and distressed. I made the quilt about two years ago. It is just simple squares and could be thrown together in a few hours! When we eat I just lift it off and set it on the coffee table/trunk in the living room right next to the table. It is so handy!

These little spooks came from the dollar store! Yes, I call them spooks. They will never be skeletons to me again. My little guy has called them spooks as long as I can remember. My mom got him one just before he turned two and he fed it soup in his playroom all the time and took good care of him! Spanish moss is huge for Halloween this year. It is messy but I love it.

I would love to see what other people are doing for Halloween! Please feel free to email me pictures of your favorite Halloween decor this year and we can post them on the blog:)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
XOXO, Amanda

The new mantle and a little Halloween!

This is one of the other finds I told you about at the Antique store! These usually go on ebay for $600 and up; not to mention how much it would cost to pay shipping! I have been watching for them for a while found this one for $100! It is cream and chippy so it just need scrubbed; no paint!!! It matches my built in hutch on the other side of the room!

The centerpiece on the table is actually the insert to a black trunk that I have in my family room. It is the perfect color:) I love anything antique in the mint green.
Sorry the lighting is terrible in this picture. Notice the light above! It is one of my favorite things in my house! It is the edision light from pottery barn.

You can get these printables online anywhere by searching free halloween printables. There is a ton of them out there! I just added some green food coloring and water in the Frankenstein & Myrth . The Melted Witches are purple and the Ogre Snot bottle was already greenish! I am excited to start getting some Halloween out today!

Sign for moms birthday!

Tomorrow is my moms birthday, but it is a busy day for us tomorrow so we celebrated tonight! We watched Stryder at swim lessons! He is doing so great. He was so brave today and we are so proud of him! Then we came back and had some chicken enchiladas and banana oatmeal raisin cookies:) She isn't too hard to buy for but I usually like to make her something instead.

First I took a blank cabinet door that I picked up at a yardsale and applied some appliques and set the knocker on there to get an idea of where I was going. Then I primed, then painted it an off-white. Then I brushed on the glaze and wiped it off. Next I screwed on my knocker. Last, I added some vinyl, and Waaa-La!

Buffer Table Re-do

My husband spotted this table for me on the side of the road with a big sign that said free!

I just used a spatula to scrape all the peeling paint and wallpaper off; then removed the doors and tossed them in the trash! I first primed then painted the dresser off-white.  I then went over it with a damp washclotch  and a antiquing coat. I spray painted the handles with an old bottle of stainless spray paint I had lying around. I would love new handles, just haven't found the right ones yet! I left the doors off so that I could display things in it.

I love this in the entryway but have had the miracles up for a long time... I think my new seasonal architectural piece from the antique store will be going up above and then I can change it seasonally!

Antique store finds!

Last weekend was our annual girls trip for Labor Day weekend! It was so fun. This year we went to an antique store, Gardner Village, and Tiapan! It was a lot to fit into one day! After lots of digging and dust I found a few things I could not leave without at the antique store! For now I am posting two of them! The other two are even more amazing! I can't wait to share them later!

This is an actual antique easy bake oven. I had to remove the cord so that my kids would not do something crazy like try to cook in it! I am working on  the "Sweet Treats Cafe" under the stairs... it may be a while before it is finished. I still need to find a chandilier and a kitchen set and a table to be complete! It is my favorite mint color too... I had to have it! It was $10!

This is an old something! Haha... some sort of trim work I suppose. It is full of potential!

I think this will take up residence in my entryway and change seasonally! I am putting up Halloween the second October gets here because I am so excited for it this year!

Lamp Re-do

Today was a good day for getting a few projects accomplished. It was just me and the princess today while my little guy went hunting with his Papa. Girls love to make things beautiful and we had a good girls day! I found a lamp about a month ago at a yardsale that was icky brown.. but I loved the shape and it was only a dollar! I had a set of stainless steel lamps that aren't my style anymore so I just used what I needed (shade and a few small parts) from it to make it all work! (Oh... and some of of Dads handyman services) You can see my inspiration for this project at Show & Tell! It is an amazing blog.  I chose to put it in my living room.... I am trying to tie in more white through out the house!

This night stand was given to us for our wedding. It used to be red, but like it much better in green!

Never ever again will I attempt a vinyl project this big with my small cutter! The tree alone was 23 pieces. You would never know. It pieced together great!
The flower on this throw pillow is off of an Amy Butler purse pattern my mom and I bought, however, I never made the purse, lol:)

Throw Pillow Idea

Finally... I am getting these pictures posted! Who loves Studio 5? I do:) I loved this pillow idea.

Here is the link if you would like to watch the tutorial.

The brown is much cuter in person. The felt has a sheen that makes it hard to take a good picture of it!
