Merry Christmas!

I hope you have a great holiday! Here are a few pics of Christmas @ our house!

I have an obsession with vintage sheet music right now! I love it in the Christmas tree!

The sign got a re-do for Christmas! Not sure why it looks crooked in this picture... must be the angle it was taken from. I assure you it is straight:)

My mom and sister came over to help make Santas cookies yesterday!! With  a lot of FUN, a large mess, and a thousand sprinkles; we did manage to get some finished:)

Easy DIY subway art: This is an old brass from the D.I. that I spray painted black and put some damask fabric inside. I then cut out some quick vinyl.

My mom bought this Dr. Seuss tree @ trees for Charity this year. It benefited Diabetes, which holds a soft spot in our hearts. My sister has been type 1 diabetic since she was six. She is now almost 18! The kids love Dr. Seuss so she gave it to us! I added a lollipop and a few crazy trees. I can't turn on the lights because they are overwhelming, lol. Next year we will go back to a real tree in here for the kids and I will incoroporate the stuff I usually put on the tree along with the Dr. Seuss so it pleases both the kids and I!!

Wishing everyone a safe and Merry Christmas!

It is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!!!!

I am soooo excited that it FINALLY snowed today!! I was beginning to worry that there would be no snow for Christmas! There is nothing like some white to start the day off in a good mood:).
We learned right before Thanksgiving that we are expecting our 3rd (and may I add last) child!! We are super excited but I have been super sick! I caught a break from it today and we accomplished a lot, with still a ton to do! I don't think it is possible to catch up from 3 weeks of snuggling up on the couch being sick in 1 day! Sorry I have not been up to posting anything lately. The last thing on my mind has been crafting! I am hoping to wake up in the morning and have another good day so I can get caught up and take some pictures of Christmas time at our house!
The kids and I were so excited to build a snowman today! Stryder has been fully dressed in his snow suit every time it has snowed for 5 minutes. By the time he has a chance to get dressed, it is gone! He has been singing the Frosty the Snowman song (even knows it better than I do) for a month! The snow was so wet and perfect that we built the snowman in less than 10 minutes I may add! Stryder made the top two balls himself! It was pretty cute to watch him try to roll them!
We went to my mom and dads for dinner tonight and it was so yummy! Then we all went to Tangled! It is the best kid movie I have seen in a long time! Is anyone else in-love with the horse?

"Fairy Dreamland" Trees for Charity Display

I was so excited to get the chance to help my friend Necia put this tree together this year. It was donated by MBT and benefited the shelter. It went for $4,000!

Cake Stand and Wreath

There is an old bottom to a lamp on the right (old candle sticks work great too.) I got this at DI for $2. The dome came from D.I. for 50 cents. The plate I snagged at the dollar store. I glued the plate on top of the stand with gorilla glue and let it dry over night, then I painted it with white spray paint!

Yummy! Pumpkin, white chocolate chip cookies cheater style! Mix 1 box spice cake mix with a can of pumpkin. Then add chocolate chips and bake for 18 min @ 350'!

I also got an old book at D.I. for $1 that I made this wreath out of!

I took a piece of thin cardboard and cut out a circle.

Roll up your book pages and secure with a dab of hot glue.

Begin to glue them on the outside of the cardboard.

When you get to the third row begin cutting your pages in half and keep going.

For the flowers cut a spiral circle and roll it up starting at the outside adding hot glue along the way.

Hot glue to your center.

Addis day-bed and room.

In March Brandon and I decided to get started on a bed for Addis 2nd birthday! Her birthday is June 13th! We took plans from Knock Off Wood for a simple platform bed with storage.

The bed had to be built in 5 sections to be able to get it up the windy stairs, which was still not so easy! Thank goodness for family! This was all one piece and the 1st section. This was a good base to start from because we had the measurements right for the twin mattress.  I say we because I was the designer but Brandon did most of the work! Then we attatched an old door horizontally to the back of the bed for the 2nd section. The third section was the sides. They were built from 2x4's to form the square then covered with sheets of wood and filled in to look like one chunky piece. Then the last section was built to sit on top of the other sections at the end. On April 24th Brandon was out working on the bed while I was inside cutting hair and I heard screaming.. Next thing I know....

He had reached into the table saw while cutting trim and it caught his glove.  This picture was taken 10 days after the accident. He got the right three fingers and nicked the fourth. It was terrible. He was still very determined. My dad came over a few days later to help finish the crown and we started painting! The bed was in her room before her birthday after all that!
I love the storage underneath for her books and babies!

The bed spread I had my eyes on forever from Land of Nod. She got it from my mom for her birthday!

After 6 months, 3 surgeries and at least 10 pins, Brandon was only off work for 5.5 weeks total! He was such a trooper! He got released at the first of this month and we are so excited to return to the "new normal". Normal for me... not quite normal for Brandon. This is what his hand looks like now.

This was my dresser when I was in school. I re-did it for Addi when we moved into this house and I added the tulle today. I hate that new handles are at least 5 bucks a pop. The tulle makes it girly and probably didn't even cost a dollar! My mom made her the quilt for her babies, but I snagged it for her dresser:) hehe. The boxes are just unfinished covered in scrapbook paper, flowers, and ric-rac.

I found this high chair at a yard-sale! Score! Her name was made from chipboard covered in scrapbook paper and then mounted on a photo matte.

I found this great piece at the anitque store. The bottom was broken off and the top had no paint. I think it may have been the center of an old mantel or something?!? With a few coats of paint and primer...

The fabric piece on the wall was sewn in strips, then wrapped around a piece of cardboard and pinned. I added the chipboard covered in scrapbook paper and the fabric flowers.. (the sewing credit all goes to my mom!) The chair was re-painted along with the dresser. It was green when it was in Stryders nursery. My mom sewed the cushion to match her crib bedding she made. The dollhouse was in a previous post. Don't you love my cute little doggy curled up? She follows me everywhere I go!

We also put these fun doors in when we built our house that our chalkboard on the inside! They are so fun!

Happy Birthday to me!

Brandon got me a gift certificate in July for my birthday to Black Eyed Susans (my favorite store) and I ordered a shelf! I got to pick it up this weekend!! I am so excited at how it turned out!!! It added more light into the room and now I don't hate my computer desk being black anymore. It balanced it out!

The Oots sign I got from an antique store! I just love the architectural pieces! It is Dutch. I am not exactly sure what it means!

I found this at a yard sale!!!

I got this at D.I.!! I love these battery operated candles. I just wrapped sheet music around it and then took my lighter around the edges. I still need to find some twine and a cool trinket to tie around them!!

One of my clients brought this bird house! She said it was going to D.I. and knew I would find something to do with it! Of course! Does she not know me well?!?!

So here she is...with a coat of white spray paint and a rub down of glazing!! It was as simple as that!

I did a quick sweep yesterday to switch Halloween over to Thanksgiving. I didn't get too carried away because there is only a few weeks until I get out Christmas!!
